Parents’ Association
Role of the Parents Association
Provision is made in the Education Act 1998 to allow parents of students of a school to set up a Parents Association. The Act states that:
A Parent Association provides a structure through which the parents/guardians of children work together for their best possible education. It works with the principal, teachers, pupils and Board of Management to build an effective relationship between home and school.
Ours aims in Cullina are to promote the interests of students, facilitate better communication, keep parents informed, organise and encourage parent involvement through various activities and foster social interaction between parents.
Parent Association Members, Committee & Sub-Committee
All parents are members of the Parent Association.
The Parent Association includes a number of distinct groups of people including Committee Members, Committee Officers, Sub-Committee Members and Class Representatives.
All functions of the Parent Association are executed with the leadership of the Committee Officers to manage the tasks of the Parent Association on behalf of the parents. Committee Officers are a party of Parent Association individuals elected at the Annual General Meeting, including a Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer.
Meetings & Getting Involved
We hold Parent Association meetings each term to drive regular communication,
consistency and opportunity to share and collaborate amongst parents for the good
of the school.
All parents are always welcome to attend Parent Association meetings.
If you’re free and feel inclined, please do come along. We chat about upcoming scheduled events along with fundraising initiatives, and often we gather and collate parent feedback on school policies and programmes for the purpose of channelling to the school.
If you’re keen to hear more, please do reach out to your Class Representative or contact the Committee Secretary on cullinaparents@gmail.com
