Sea Explorers
Christie from The Explorers Education Programme visited our school recently . he Explorers Marine Project ‘ with 6th class and The Green School Team. programme provides fun lesson plans, resources and activities for primary school teachers and pupils to inspire the student’s interest and knowledge in our ocean, marine environment, species and seashores. This is particularly relevant this year as we are working to achieve Our Green Flag on Global Citizenship Marine Environment.- Eleanor from The Explorers Education Programme visited us recently. She introduced ‘The Explorers Saltwater Aquarium’ module to us. She provided the 6th class with a saltwater aquarium which is home to a butterfish, a star fish, a plaice, a prawn, a bead anemone and a hermit crab. Our job is to feed them and take care of all their needs.

Christmas Shoebox Appeal
3rd class took part in this year’s Christmas Shoebox Appeal run by Team Hope. Each child enjoyed filling their shoebox with lots of items such as toys, pencils, hats, gloves, and colouring pencils etc. Team Hope plan to send shoe boxes to children in various countries throughout Eastern Europe, the Former Soviet Union and Africa. Recycle Right
KWD Recycling held an interactive waste and recycling workshop with the children in 3rd and 4th class. This hands-on workshop demonstrates best practice when it comes to waste and recycling. It was thoroughly enjoyed by the children with each child receiving a ‘Recycle Right with Kenny and Benny booklet’ and a Certificate of Completion.

Astellas Art Competition Winners
Congratulations to Leah Casey, Nikki O Sullivan and Lauren Gallagher who all received highly commended prizes for their Astellas Art Competition drawings. The title of this year’s competition was ‘Stop and think’. All three families attended an evening in Astellas where the pupils received their prizes and enjoyed a buffet meal. All drawings will be on the Astellas Kidney Association calendar. Well done to all!
