February 2020

 

We had a fantastic day making pancakes for the whole school on Pancake Tuesday!!!

Thanks a million to Alan who visited us to share his tips and tricks on how to become a Super League basketball player!

Congratulations to our outstanding Sixth Class who made their Confirmation. They were a credit to our school and their families!

We did fabulous winter art this month!!

December 2019

We treated ourselves to hot chocolate and marshmallows on our last day before the Christmas holidays. Well deserved after all their hard work during the term!!

 

We had a great sing-song with Mike Coffey the caretaker. We have some stars in the making in Cullina!

Sixth Class really enjoyed opening their Secret Santa presents they received from each other!

5th & 6th had a very enjoyable and successful schools tag-rugby blitz at the Killarney Rugby Club on Wednesday with both the boys and girls winning all their matches. Congratulations!!!

As part of Friendship Week, 6th Class read story books to Junior and Senior Infants and First Class. It was a wonderful activity for the younger classes to get to know 6th Class.

 

In English we learned persuasive writing skills and techniques and we wrote essays to persuade and encourage the whole school to bring a health lunch box to school.

November 2019

In Art we learned a drawing skill called 'foreshortening'. This is where we drew an object to make it appear either closer or further away.

We made cheeseburger book reviews based on our class novel 'A Girl Called Blue'

 

 

Congratulations to Rachael and to all the winners of the Astellas Drawing Competition. We are very proud of you!

 

October 2019

In October we experimented with charcoal and we learned how to create light and dark shading using the material. We created the New York City skyline using these techniques.

We studies the poem 'The Sound Collector' by Roger McGough. We also composed our own poems based on the poem. We discovered we have a great class full of poet!

September 2019

Sixth Class were blessed with amazing weather for our trip across the Lakes of Killarney and down through the Gap of Dunloe.
