Senior Infants Archive 2017/18
June 2018
We visited Tralee Bay Wetlands Centre. The Water-Beast Hunt, Scavenger Hunt, Frog-Finding Exhibition and Pedalo Boating were some of the exciting activities we participated in. Here are some photographs from an action-packed school tour:
May 2018
Aistear Task: Design a boat that can float in water.
Our School Garden: We learned how the Biodiversity Area in our school helps the bees. Guest speakers helped us to identify the Queen Bee in the hive! Can you find the yellow spot?
Station Teaching: Using a variety of board games we developed thinking, spelling and reading skills.
Linking Maths to Aistear we had great fun designing, drawing and painting our "Shape Fish".
April 2018
For healthy eating week we sampled a variety of fruit. We met Mr. Apple and Ms. Strawberry. We learned the importance of staying fit and healthy and practised our football skills.
Our Aistear theme was Sports. We explored a variety of stations and carried out project work which we displayed for the whole school.
March 2018
We explored the theme of 'The Doctor'. We had great fun learning about the medical profession, sharing ideas and designing our own hospitals which even included South Doc offices and a playground!

- We listened to the patients and wrote prescriptions when they were needed!

- “I’m just checking your throat,ears and chest. Your arm is sprained. Keep the sling on and come back in six weeks!!!”

- Our ideal hospital includes a maternity ward, blood test area, theatre, eye test centre, waiting areas, reception, car park, vet centre (where your pet can stay while you’re in hospital), car park, South Doc offices and a playground!

- The surgeon carries out a major operation.

- We used giant polydrons to develop spacial awareness and creativity when designing and building a variety of farms.

We enjoyed exploring the theme of The Post Office in Aistear. We worked in the Oral language Dress-Up Area, Small World, Construction, Maths, Writing, Sand, Play Dough and Art stations.

November 2017
In November we visited Siamsa Tíre, Tralee to see the wonderful production of 'The Ugly Duckling'. We met Mrs. Duck before the show. The production was similar to the story we read in class. We had a great day out with our friends.
