Ist Class Archive 2017/18
Our school tour to Tralee Bay Wetlands proved to be a great day with great friends. We experienced a lively mix of activities including: The Water-Beast Hunt, Scavenger Hunt, Frog-Finding Exhibition and Pedalo Boating. From the large viewing tower we spotted some famous landmarks of Tralee.
Tin Whistle: We learned how to sing and play "The Sally Gardens". The importance of our school garden was highlighted when Guest Speakers visited our school. They talked about beekeeping and showed us a bee hive. Please see our Senior Infants page for more pictures.
Working with iPads and the Junk Art station helped us to develop creativity, imagination, reading and maths skills.
Working on the theme of travel we created our own holiday brochures. Each pupil presented his/her brochure to the whole class and we carried out a vote to find the leading destinations. Africa, Australia, France and Portugal were the most popular. Contact Senior Infants & 1st Class to book your flights!
This month we carried out project work on the theme of Sports. We learned a lot of interesting facts and displayed our projects for the whole school. A special thank you to our guest speakers Kerry Ladies Football Captain Sarah Houlihan and former tennis player Nikki Sweeney.
Working in groups we created Bar Charts based on the most popular sports in our class.
Here is a sample of our Art work which we displayed in Beaufort Hall on First Holy Communion Day 28/04/'18 - World Meeting of Families 2018:
